| Going
Vertical is a state-of-the-art training facility for
athletes of all sports and all ages to improve overall athleticism
in three disciplines: speed, agility,
and power. Our programs are for athletes at the
top of their game looking for that extra edge as well as the improving
athlete hoping to achieve a more important role on their team.
The common bond among all these athletes is the desire
to improve. Going Vertical’s
goal is to maximize their potential.
Alex
Van Dyke, Owner
After
a successful football career, Alex utilized his background and
experience to open a Going Vertical athletic training facility
in Sacramento. SMW has been active in helping Alex formulate his
transition into the business world.
In 1996, Alex
Van Dyke became the highest draft pick coming out of the University
of Nevada at Reno, being selected by the New York Jets as the
1st pick in the second round, 31st overall. He went on to play
five years in the NFL, three of which he played with the N.Y.
Jets and two with the Philadelphia Eagles. While playing with
the N.Y. Jets Alex had the opportunity to line up with some other
great athletes, such as Keyshawn Johnson and Wayne Chrebet.
At the University
of Nevada at Reno, Alex went on to become one of the University's
leading receivers breaking three NCAA records; receptions(128),
receiving yards(1,854) and all-purpose yards(3100). Alex walked
away from UNR with All-American honors as well.

"I
was told over and over again that I would never be successful, that
I was not going to be competitive and the technique was simply not
going to work. All I could do was shrug and say 'We'll just have
to see'."
-- Dick Fosbury won an Olympic gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City
Games after he invented a revolutionary high-jump technique. |
